"Themes From Hell" #5 and #6: The Dunwich Horror and Carcosa 7" records are now on sale

Isolated music for my soundtracks to H.P. Lovecraft's The Dunwich Horror and Robert W. Chambers' Carcosa have just been unleashed in phenomenally beautiful editions as 7" record releases by Cadabra Records! A massive thanks to Cadabra Records founder, Jonathan Dennison for putting these "Themes From Hell" titles out into the world. I'm incredibly proud of both of these soundtracks along with all of the "Themes From Hell" releases that feature my scores to date and hope that people enjoy these vinyl records.

For The Dunwich Horror soundtrack, I played a wide variety of instrumentation that includes nylon-string acoustic guitar, electric guitar as well as an array of different synthesizers, harmonium and banjo. The music was marvelously produced by Barry Knob who also played some amazing electronic bass and creeped-out Mellotron parts. Todd Mendelsohn's contributions to the score really shine. He played some wonderful and highly atmospheric additional keyboard parts and arrangements along with a series of deeply hypnotic programmed drums. Stephen Quaranta added some extra potency into the mix with an evocative piano line that snakes through the harmonium-led theme along with a fantastic drum machine part that is a one-off variant of the main synthesizer-based theme which closes out the B side of the themes included.

The soundtrack I provided for Carcosa is centered around acoustic steel-string guitar, electric guitar and synthesizer flourishes that weave in and out of the mix. Dave Barbaree contributed hauntingly beautiful string arrangements that elevate the atmosphere of it all. Barry Knob immaculately produced the score.

As usual with all of the spectacular “Themes From Hell” releases that Cadabra Records puts out, the materials used for the printed parts are breathtaking in the form of the physical materials and the arresting art. Karmazid's art for The Dunwich Horror is nothing short of mind-blowing as he has brought the story to life in a way that will live on for many years to come. Jonathan Dennison's phenomenal art for Carcosa ties everything together and absolutely nails the spirit of the poems and the recording. The art on both of these 7” releases couldn't look better!
